
Biography
Janet has had a distinguished career in the Sydney Symphony Orchestra,holding the Principal Flute position since 1985. This was preceded by the Principal Flute position in the Singapore Symphony. She has also appeared as guest principal with many orchestras, including the Sadlers Wells Ballet Company.
Janet holds an Arts/Music Degree from the Canberra School of Music. Studies with Andras Adorjan in France followed.
Janet has performed as soloist with the Sydney Symphony, Singapore Symphony and the Ku-Ring-Gai Philharmonic on numerous occasions .Of note was a performance of Bach's Brandenburg Concerto no 4 for 2 flutes with Sir James Galway and the Sydney Symphony .Other concerto performances include the Mozart concertos in G and D, Mozart Flute and Harp concerto, Danzi concerto for flute and clarinet, Honegger concerto for flute and Cor Anglais, performance and cd recording of Martin concerto for 7 winds, and the Australian premiere performance of the Flute Concerto by Liebermann in 2013 with the Sydney Symphony.
Janet regularly performs recitals and masterclasses, both live and on radio, Australia wide, and more recently in South Korea. Janet has performed chamber music regularly as a member of the Sydney Soloists and the former Australian Wind Virtuosi.
Janet has taught for the Singapore, Sydney, NSW and Tasmanian Universities. She has been instrumental in the development of the Australian International Symphony Orchestra Institute in Tasmania.
In 2010 she was invited to be a juror for the prestigious international "Nicolet Flute Competition", held in China.
Janet and Jocelyn have released two cds - "Tango and All That Jazz" and "Romantic Bon Bons" in 2013.
